Students across Northeast Florida are returning to classrooms this week and next. As schools open their doors, district officials prepare for the effect of Family Empowerment Scholarships, part of a recently enacted state law that expands student vouchers. This program could potentially limit the number of students and funding allocated to public schools.

Beating the heat
As the First Coast continues to experience extreme heat, Jacksonville has opened its cooling centers. Dr. Sunil Joshi, chief health officer for Mayor Donna Deegan, provides more information about how to stay cool.
'Plan C'
Dr. Nancy Staats, vice president of Jacksonville NOW, joined us to discuss the award-winning documentary Plan C. The film depicts a grassroots effort to increase access to abortion pills in the United States.
Plan C will be screened this Thursday at WJCT Studios.
