Clay County is not taking any more COVID-19 vaccination appointments until another shipment of shots comes in.
The county got its first allotment of 3,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines last week. Emergency Management Director John Ward said starting Monday, Jan. 4, they’ll be administering about 200 first doses daily through January 20.
"As we receive these small allocations, we're going to open up additional days. But what we're really watching for is as we move to the end of January, into February, that a lot of our private partners come online: our Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Publix, those type pharmacies. That'll be more dispensing points throughout the county that our citizens can go to," Ward said.
Frontline healthcare workers with direct patient contact, nursing home residents and staff, and people 65 and older are the only people who currently qualify for the vaccine in Florida.
For those who do receive the vaccine this month, the county will launch a website later this week where they can sign up for their seconds dose of the vaccine.
