Media Roundtable; JME DJ Sessions

Today’s Media Roundtable discussed some of the top stories in the First Coast, including:

  • During a special legislative session, Florida lawmakers passed measures to disallow employers from requiring their employees receive the COVID-19 vaccination and public schools from mandating masks.
  • The Jacksonville City Council is poised to approve a series of reforms intended to scrutinize cases in which City Hall provides taxpayer money to nonprofits affiliated with council members. City Council also spent this week establishing its priorities for the coming years.
  • Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute and JAXPORT are partnering to launch an educational initiative called Connected, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of the St. Johns River as a vital natural resource. Critics say that the partnership is greenwashed.
  • This week, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office removed hateful racial slurs from two private electronic message boards in Oakleaf Plantation.
