Media Roundtable: Circuit Judge Strikes Down Florida Congressional District Maps
A Leon County circuit judge has ruled that the Florida Legislature illegally redrew the state's congressional districts to primarily benefit the Republican Party.
Circuit Judge Terry Lewis ruled Thursday that the Republican-controlled Legislature broke the law when it drew the maps in 2012.
In particular Lewis cited local Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s District 5, which is notorious as one of the most gerrymandered in the nation.
Brown told News4Jax that she plans to fight the ruling. The decision is expected to be appealed.
