An initiative with local volunteers is bringing treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to the people of Ukraine.

The treatment is called the Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories Protocol — or RTM — and uses a short visualization process to retrieve and alter memory.

Volunteers in the U.S. are working with mental health professionals in Ukraine as they try to help a deeply traumatized population.

The Russian invasion sent some Ukrainian refugees to South Florida, including Miss Ukraine International. Now located in West Palm Beach, Elena Dunder wants to help as many Ukrainian children as possible. Dunder founded The Soul’s Beauty to support and send assistance to Ukrainian children.

DeSantis signs Disney legislation

The Florida legislature sent Gov. Ron DeSantis two pieces of legislation last week aimed at punishing the Walt Disney Corp. Disney, the state’s largest private employer, voiced opposition last month to a controversial new law limiting instruction of sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools.

Alcohol Awareness Month

This month is Alcohol Awareness Month. In our current climate, where anxiety and uncertainty are prominent, alcohol abuse is rising. Women tend to experience bigger increases in depressive and anxiety disorders, and the last two years have only accelerated the problem. Some are turning to alcohol to cope.
