Councilmember LeAnna Cumber has kicked off her campaign to become Jacksonville’s next mayor.
She’s the latest Republican to enter this wide-open race. Due to term limits, current Mayor Lenny Curry leaves office next year.
Cumber represents San Marco and parts of the Southside on the council. She’s an attorney and a transportation consultant who has campaigned on fighting the rise in the local gas tax, human trafficking and special interests she says have controlled the city for too long.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In St. Johns County, the Betty Griffin Center is the go-to place for shelter and other services helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. CEO Kelly Franklin says there's still time to register for their 5K this weekend.

St. Augustine Food and Wine Festival
The St. Augustine Food + Wine Festival returns next month. It’s a five-day food and drink celebration that was recently recognized as one of Florida’s top 10 food and wine festivals.

- It started as a virtual series. Now, though, the Baobab Black Arts Series has a spectacular lineup of live events planned, at spots all around town this spring.
- After four decades of featured background singing with icons like Luther Vandross, The Rolling Stones, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner and Nine Inch Nails, Lisa Fischer set out to take center stage. She’s coming to the Ritz Theatre and Musem this Saturday, April 9.
- Yoga 4 Change is offering two weekly family yoga classes to the active duty and veteran communities in Northeast Florida. Classes are free to participants and made possible by generous funding from Humana Military.
